Microsoft has quietly released another servicing stack update for Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update), and it’s available right now via Windows Update.

KB4090914 doesn’t bring anything else than stability improvements for the Windows 10 version 1709 servicing stack, according to the official KB page itself, though users are still recommended to install it as soon as possible.

There’s little to worry about in this regard as well because the update is automatically downloaded and installed on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, with no reboot required to complete the process.

As for what exactly it brings new on the system, Microsoft doesn’t share too many details on KB4090914, though the simple fact that it includes servicing stack improvements could be a hint that it prepares systems running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update for the release of the next update.

Windows 10 Redstone 4 coming next month

Windows 10 Redstone 4 (version 1803) is expected to launch next month, while the RTM build should be finalized and shipped to users enrolled in the Windows Insider program as soon as late March.

The update doesn’t have a name just yet, as Microsoft hasn’t announced how it plans to call Redstone 4, though there were hints that the Spring Creators Update moniker was at least considered. More information in this regard, however, is expected to surface soon, especially because we’re getting closer to the expected public launch.

In the meantime, Redstone 4 has already entered the last stage of development and the update is now feature-locked, which means that the focus has been switched to fixing bugs and refining performance ahead of the public launch.

No new features are being developed for Redstone 4, and the company is only working to address last-minute bugs based on reports from insiders who are getting new builds these days at a much faster pace given the new focus on fixes.
