First cumulative update for Windows 10 Creators Update

Microsoft has just shipped the very first cumulative update for Windows 10 Creators Update, as the company is now giving the final touches to this OS release and preparing to ship it to retail users.

Available exclusively for users in the Fast and Slow rings of the Windows Insider program, KB4016250 doesn’t bring too many changes, but it marks the beginning of cumulative updates development for Windows 10 version 1703, and this is an important milestone for both Microsoft and its users.

First and foremost, this cumulative update fixes an issue affecting Surface devices and causing Bluetooth radio to fail to re-enumerate during hibernate or resume, so if you have a Surface running Windows 10 Creators Update build 15063, make sure you install this to avoid experiencing this bug.

Additionally, Microsoft says it also fixed an issue with McAfee Enterprises to prevent a system crash when the product driver is installed on build 15060 configured with Device Guard.

New cumulative update possibly coming on launch day

As we’ve told you before, Microsoft has already compiled the RTM version of the Windows 10 Creators Update, and build 15063 that’s currently available for insiders in the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings is likely to be shipped to retail users as well on April 5 via Windows Update Assistant and on April 11 through Windows Update.

Users installing the Windows 10 Creators Update are expected to receive a new cumulative update on April 11 as well to get fixes that were developed by Microsoft between the RTM compiling date and the launch date.

April 11 is also Patch Tuesday, so it makes sense for Microsoft to release new cumulative updates, not only for the new Windows 10 Creators Update but also for the other Windows 10 versions currently on the market.

Hopefully, everything would install correctly and the Windows 10 Creators Update cumulative updates won’t experience the same issues that hit users running the Anniversary Update.

Thanks for the tip, Steve Truman!
