An update for the store app was released this morning

The Windows 10 store went down a few days ago due to what was most likely a server-side issue experienced by Microsoft, but the company has spent the last few days improving the store anyway, so an update for the official app was released this morning.

The store version was bumped from 2015.8.25.1 to 2015.9.9.2, but unfortunately, Microsoft didn’t provide a change log, so bug fixes and performance improvements are most likely to be expected.

As you probably know, Microsoft no longer provides release notes for the updates it releases unless there’s a major change included, so the lack of such information could be a sign that we’re actually dealing with only minor enhancements.

And yet, given the outage that the store suffered a few days ago, it would be interesting to see what Microsoft has actually managed to fix in this new version, but obviously, it’s impossible to tell for sure right now.

Faster loading

Some users are reporting that the store is loading faster on some devices, but for the moment, we can’t confirm this on our devices. Such improvements, however, are possible, but at the same time, Microsoft is also expected to address crashes that are affecting not only the store but also the other pre-installed apps in Windows 10.

Many adopters of the new operating system experience issues with universal apps crashing all of a sudden on their PCs, and the store is one of them. In some cases, universal apps fail to load and get stuck on the splash screen. Microsoft is yet to confirm the problem and to provide a workaround.

The update for the Windows 10 store is available in the store, so simply fire it up and then go to the Downloads and updates section to look for the new version. Once the download is finished, the store should restart and update to the new version.
