Bring your lock screen to life with this new feature

Windows Spotlight is one of the best additions to Windows 10 in terms of new features, and Microsoft presented it with much fanfare at BUILD 2015 earlier this year.

But until this week, Windows Spotlight wasn't yet available in Windows 10, as Microsoft promised to release it at a later time through Windows Update.

And it turns out that this moment has come, as a number of Windows 10 users have received Windows Spotlight with the second cumulative update that the software giant released on Tuesday. And yet, there's a catch.

According to WSS, only Windows 10 Home PCs have actually received Windows Hello, so in case you're on the Pro SKU, there's no such thing for you. At least, not for now.

What is Windows Spotlight?

Windows Spotlight is a new feature specifically introduced by Microsoft that automatically changes your lock screen wallpaper using photos from Bing or from your personal collection.

Basically, Windows Spotlight is a wallpaper changer that works on the Windows 10 lock screen and is deeply built within the operating system, so if you don't like to use a static photo as background, this is the right option for you.

What's more surprising, however, is that Windows Spotlight is only available for Home users for the moment, despite the fact that this kind of feature would be a neat addition for everyone. Most likely, Microsoft will add it to the Pro version in the near future, when another update is ready for Windows 10.

In the meantime, if you're on Home and looking for Windows Spotlight, you can find it in Settings > Personalization > Lockscreen > Background. Simply choose Windows Spotlight and the feature comes into effect immediately, without the need for a reboot. The next time you bring up the lock screen, a new wallpaper should show up as well.
