A new more affordable configuration is now available

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 debuted in May 2014 and the device quickly became one of the company’s best-selling tablet models, despite the pretty high price, which for the top-of-the-range configuration reached $1,950 (1,500 Euros).

As more time passed by, Microsoft rolled out several discounts to make it more affordable for buyers in the United States and in other specific markets, and today the company quietly introduced a new model that offers the same performance as the top version, but with less storage space.

As WinBeta notes, the new Surface Pro 3 model is essentially a cheaper version of the i7 version that only comes with reduced storage space, so unless you need plenty of space to save your files, this one is pretty much your best option.

The new Surface Pro 3 i7 with 128 GB of storage space costs $1,299, which means that it has the same price as an i5 model with 256 GB of storage. Needless to say, the i7 is the better option because the CPU provides higher processing power, is faster, and makes the Surface Pro 3 a true productivity workhorse, despite the fact that it doesn’t come with the same amount of storage space.

The new Surface Pro 3 lineup

Right now, with the addition of the new model, the Surface Pro 3 lineup is the following:

Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i3 64GB and 4GB RAM - $799 Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i5 128GB and 4GB RAM - $999 Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i5 256 GB and 8GB RAM - $1299 Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7 128 GB and 8GB RAM - $1299 Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7 256 GB and 8GB RAM - $1549 Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i7 512 GB and 8GB RAM - $1999

Keep in mind, however, that Microsoft rolls out discounts and special offers regularly so keep an eye on the news to find out the best moment to purchase a Surface Pro 3.
