Microsoft has recently shipped Windows 10 Spring Creators Update (codenamed Redstone 4) RTM to the Slow ring of the Windows Insider program after previously releasing it for the Fast ring as well.

Windows 10 Redstone 4 RTM lands as build 17133, and it is released to the Slow ring in stages, which means that not everyone sees it in Windows Update unless manually checked for updates. Microsoft says this is required to test the rollout of Redstone 4 to customers ahead of the public launch, which according to people familiar with the matter should begin on April 10.

Global rollout of Spring Creators Update

Microsoft explains that by Monday, all users enrolled in the Slow ring should get the build, and it’ll be listed in Windows Update as “Feature update for Windows 10, version 1803.” This is another confirmation this is the RTM build that everyone is going to get later this month.

“As part of this flight, we are testing the engineering systems responsible for the deployment of Windows 10 feature updates to customers. As such, not all Insiders in the Slow ring will be immediately targeted to receive this flight. We are targeting full availability to the Slow ring on Monday 4/2 however, if you’d like to install immediately, a manual check for updates under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update will present the build,” Microsoft explains.

The rollout of Windows 10 Redstone 4 will indeed begin later this month, but not everyone is going to get it on day one.

Just like it happens with the Slow ring release, Microsoft is embracing a rollout in stages that allows the company ensure a smooth experience for as many users as possible.

Microsoft will collect feedback from the systems getting the Spring Creators Update and then address software and hardware compatibility issues before the new Windows 10 version goes live for more computers across the world.
