“You won't see any changes immediately," Microsoft says

Microsoft pushed the very first post-RTM build of Windows 10 to fast ring insiders a few hours ago, so the company officially re-launched the Windows Insider program to continue developing updates for the operating system with help from its users.

Gabriel Aul, head of the program, said in a blog post that Microsoft is working to make some changes to this feedback effort in order to make it more effective, but also to be easier for users to send suggestions and vote for the ones that are already there.

Aul hasn't specifically mentioned the changes that Microsoft wants to make to the program, but he did reveal that the company is considering tweaks to the available rings, which could be a sign that a new channel might be announced soon.

“Feedback from Windows Insiders not only helps us build Windows 10 – it also helps us shape how we run the program. For example, Windows Insiders have asked us to improve the flighting cadence and to keep the Windows Feedback app in the product – which we have done. We’re also evaluating the Windows Insider rings, and considering whether we should make changes there,” Aul explained.

New ring?

Right now, Windows 10 builds are shipped as part of two different rings, namely slow and fast, with the latter getting builds at a much faster pace. But users have asked Microsoft to release new builds even faster than that, with some asking for daily releases that would allow them to run the same versions of Windows 10 as the development team.

Aul hinted at some point that a ludicrous ring could be released, but no other details have been provided since then, so maybe these new planned changes also include the release of a new channel.

These changes, however, won't be made overnight, and will gradually be introduced in the program, the company says.

“Over the past few months we’ve been looking at feedback to see what changes we want to make going forward. We’re putting plans together now, so you won’t see any changes immediately, but they will come over time. We’ll be doing our best to make sure that we improve every aspect of the program, from build distribution to the Feedback app and Insider Hub.”

For the moment, Windows 10 Build 10525 is only available for the fast ring, so go ahead and download it to see how it runs.
