W10M “accidentally” mentioned in Minecraft changelog

Microsoft seems to really be struggling to disappoint Windows 10 Mobile because after so many decisions that angered the Windows Phone community, here comes another “accident” that causes uproar among those sticking with the platform.

Release notes for a future version of the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft included a line confirming support for Windows 10 Mobile devices, and while this was super-exciting news for Microsoft phone users, it appears it was all just an accident.

The Redmond-based software giant has remained completely tight-lipped on this reference to Windows 10 Mobile support in Minecraft 1.0.3, and the company silently removed this line, somehow suggesting that it has no plans on adding its mobile platform on the list of OSes working with the upcoming version of the game.

Minecraft is currently at version 1.0.2, and the recently-published changelog was for version 1.0.3 beta, so it’s no wonder that so many users believed that Microsoft would finally add support for Windows 10 Mobile.

No plans for Minecraft on Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft hasn’t obviously offered comments on this minor accident, but it’s worth mentioning that there are also some reports out there suggesting that not even Minecraft Pocket Edition would receive updates on Windows phones, with the company planning to abandon the game completely on its own mobile platform.

As far as the Windows 10 version of Minecraft, there’s absolutely no confirmation that it would ever be released on Windows 10 Mobile, so it all remains just a dream that the firm doesn’t want to talk about.

This actually aligns with Microsoft’s mobile plans very well, as the company rarely talks about its vision for the smartphone platform, creating an uncertainty that drives many developers and users alike to rival systems such as Android and iOS.

In the meantime, the upcoming Minecraft 1.0.3 update would only be released to PCs, so the only thing we can do right now is to wait and hope that, at some point, a mobile version would also ship.
