Android apps will still work on these phones, though

We're less than two weeks away from the official Windows 10 Mobile release and Microsoft's new operating system is not even close to being finished.

The current build still has a lot of broken things that need to be ironed out and there's so little time left. Hopefully, Microsoft will ramp up development in these last days before Windows 10 Mobile's launch, so that the new OS can offer as many features as possible.

Anyway, beside squashing bugs and adding new features and improvements into Windows 10 Mobile, it looks like Microsoft's team of engineers has also patched technical loophole that would allow a Lumia smartphone to run Android operating system.

Even though many say Windows Phone is far more secure than Android, there are people who would try to take advantage of this loophole and use their Lumia smartphones with another mobile platform than it was originally intended.

It requires access to certain tools that only Microsoft can provide you with

Well, that's not the case anymore since WMPU reports Microsoft has just squashed this bug that allowed certain persons with access to several proprietary tools that only the Redmond-based company can provide, to install Android on a Lumia smartphone.

Below you can watch a video showing the Lumia 830 running Android 5.0.2, which most certainly isn't a pretty sight for Windows Phone fans.

Keep in mind though that while Microsoft has patched this exploit, Android apps will still be supported in Windows 10 Mobile via Project Astoria.

However, this is not the same thing since these Android apps will work within the confinements of the Windows Phone environment, which should be more secure than Google's mobile platform.

Either way, it's probably a better idea to just purchase an Android smartphone if you like this operating system, then try and hack a Lumia device just to make it run Google's mobile platform.
