Windows 10 Redstone 3 is finally here for the masses

Microsoft has finally started the official rollout of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update after months of beta testing with help from users enrolled in the Windows Insider program.

As it happened with the Creators Update earlier this year, the Fall Creators Update is being rolled out in stages to computers across the world, as the company wants to first collect feedback and address potential problems before everyone gets it.

This means users who stick with Windows Update might not see the new update today, but turning to the Windows 10 Update Assistant is an alternative way to manually download the new version without waiting anymore.

“As with the Creators Update, the key to our phased approach is actively listening to all available feedback mechanisms and making the appropriate product updates during the rollout,” Microsoft explains.

“This allows us to provide a high-quality experience for the broadest set of users at an accelerated rate, while also continually increasing the quality and security of Windows 10. This was our approach with the Creators Update released in April and user feedback on this approach was very positive.”

You better wait

The company recommends users to wait for the Fall Creators Update to be offered via Windows Update, though there’s no estimate as to how much this wait could last as it all depends on the number of bugs and issues that the company finds in the new OS version.

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update introduces lots of new features, including support for mixed reality and 3D apps with Paint 3D (which continues to be offered alongside the classic Paint app).

Gaming has also been improved with Game Mode and Mixer updates, while the Photos app is being overhauled with lots of tools, including 3D effects, ink, video, and support for memories and stories that you can edit on your own.

The Fall Creators Update is being offered as a free update to users who are already running the Windows 10 Creators Update and dedicated ISOs allowing for a clean install are expected to land in the coming days.
