Only the Mobile version for insiders gets the update for now

Fluent Design is one of the biggest improvements coming to the Windows 10 Creators Update this September, as it refines the interface of the operating system with modern design and visual effects, so the apps developed by Microsoft are one by one updated with such tweaks.

Today, it’s the turn of Microsoft Office Mobile, which received the Acrylic blur effect on Insider devices on PC, and users who are part of the testing program can give it a try right now. Surprisingly, a Windows 10 Mobile update also shipped earlier today, but Fluent Design is not available just yet. The PC version is 17.8414.10001.0, while Mobile has been updated to 17.8414.10002.0.

For the moment, only the Mobile version of Microsoft Office gets this visual update, which you can see in action in the photo gallery below, with the top and the side navigation bars now featuring the blur effect.

More Fluent Design refinements coming soon

The Fluent Design update is available in all three apps that are part of the Office Mobile productivity suite, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with more such refinements likely to be released soon.

Fluent Design was announced by Microsoft at the Build developer conference earlier this year, and while it’s projected to show up in the Fall Creators Update in September, work on this overhaul will continue even after that with more tweaks.

For example, Microsoft is projected to implement new visual effects that are triggered when hovering certain options in Windows 10 apps, but this particular tweak is yet to make it to apps on Insider devices

Microsoft is very close to finalizing work on the Fall Creators Update, with the company currently conducting the last Bug Bash before the September launch. The focus in the remaining two months is likely to switch to bug fixing, with no major new features expected to be introduced in the builds shipped to insiders.
