Here’s the changelog for the most recent cumulative update

Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 14393.10 just before the debut of the Anniversary Update in an attempt to patch systems with more fixes and improvements at the very last minute, and now, thanks to a KB page, we can finally learn what’s new in this version.

Available through Windows 10 cumulative update KB3176929, Windows 10 build 14393.10 is all about fixing bugs and addressing performance issues, so you won’t discover any new feature after installing it.

And this obviously makes sense, especially because it arrives at such a moment, as the company cannot afford to release new features that aren’t tested just before the official debut of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

The changelog that Microsoft has provided today reveals that this cumulative update improves the reliability of background tasks and extensions for Microsoft Edge. So once you update to the Anniversary Update (version 1607), you should notice better performance from the new default browser - with this release, Edge is also getting extension support, so it might really be worth a chance in the Anniversary Update.

Additionally, this update fixes an issue that prevents changing orientation when attaching a keyboard dock and addresses all problems caused by Connected Standby and impacting scheduled update scans getting delayed for no clear reason.

One small fix for Windows 10 Mobile

Windows 10 Mobile users are also getting a small fix - although they’re not getting the Anniversary Update just yet, and Microsoft says that issues causing high battery drain when the device is idle or the screen is off should no longer occur.

There are some other small fixes for Cortana, Microsoft Query, and Microsoft Excel, so general performance should be slightly better thanks to this cumulative update.

Cumulative updates will continue to land in the coming weeks and months, and the next one is likely to see daylight on Tuesday, when Microsoft begins the Patch Tuesday rollout and delivers security patches for software solutions in its lineup.
