Cumulative update KB3201845 causing more and more problems

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB3201845 last week for computers running the Anniversary Update, and unfortunately, the same thing as before is happening again.

KB3201845 fails to install on a large number of computers, and judging from how many people are complaining about it, the problems experienced by this cumulative update are quite widespread.

As we’ve reported to you during the weekend, in most of the cases, KB3201845 failed to install with the typical message telling that the installer was undoing changes before systems were rebooted to the desktop.

But the number of complaints skyrocketed in the last few days, confirming that KB3201845 might be causing more than just installation problems on Windows 10 computers.

At this point, it’s believed that KB3201845 could also be the source of Internet connection issues that some users are experiencing these days, but what’s important to know is that Microsoft is yet to acknowledge that the cumulative update could break down something on your computer.

Reboot your computers

On the other hand, when you visit the official page of the KB3201845 update, Microsoft does show a tip that could be living proof of Internet connection issues experienced after installing it.

“If you are experiencing issues connecting to the internet we recommend you restart your PC by going to Start, clicking the Power button, then choosing Restart (not Shut down),” a small tip posted on the KB page reads (it looks like the same advice is posted on all KB pages, so Microsoft might be aware it’s a widespread problem).

Of course, rebooting the system doesn’t make any difference and users who can no longer connect to the Internet are left with no workaround. As always, there’s the option to completely remove the cumulative update, but Microsoft should come up with a fix as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Microsoft keeps investigating reports, but given that Patch Tuesday is today, a new cumulative update might be released in just a few hours.
