The new Microsoft Band is already on its way

Microsoft Band is still selling surprisingly well, but as we're getting closer to the debut of the second generation, Redmond is cutting its price to clear out inventories and pave the way for the new model.

Today, for example, Microsoft has cut the price of the Band in its online stores across the world, so Americans can purchase it with a $20 discount, while Britons benefit from a 10-pound promo. Right now, the price of the Band is $179.00 in the United States and 159.99 pounds in the UK.

The discount, however, is available for a limited time, so if you really want to buy the Band at this special price, you might have to hurry up a little bit these days.

Microsoft has already confirmed that the second-generation Band is on its way, with the company's Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner revealing at WPC 2015 this week that the device is already being developed.

No other specifics have been provided, but it's believed that the new Band is already being tested across the world, including at some Microsoft subsidies in Europe, which could be an indication that, as compared to the first model, the software giant is aiming for an international launch from the very beginning.

The first-generation Band was only launched in the United States, but because of the growing demand, the company then decided to make it available to more buyers, including those on the Old Continent. Right now, the Band is up for grabs in most Microsoft stores, but also at several retailers selling other Microsoft products.

As far as the launch of the new Band is concerned, some say that it's expected to happen later this year, most likely about 12 months after the first model. Of course, Microsoft is yet to provide us with more info on this, but expect details to be disclosed as we get closer to the launch.
