14 DAY TRIAL // Following the free Windows 10 upgrade offer for genuine Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users, Microsoft has just announced an experimental program aimed at non-genuine customers who have yet to upgrade to the new version of the OS.
Microsoft's Terry Myerson confirmed that the experiment would start soon in the United States, and if successful, it would be extended to other countries.
If you're a non-genuine Windows 10 user or one that is using a previous pirated version of Windows that is eligible for a free upgrade if it were legit, then don't get your hopes too high because you won't get a free Windows 10 license.
Just an easy method of activating your Windows 10 copy
Microsoft has just made it easier for those who run a non-genuine version of Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 to upgrade to Windows 10.
“One of the more interesting learnings from the upgrade is the creative efforts which non-Genuine customers have gone to, to initiate the upgrade process on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 – and then how many have purchased Genuine Windows 10 activation through the Windows 10 store,” said Myerson.
Based on the learning mentioned by Myerson, Microsoft will start this experiment in the United States where the company will offer “a one-click opportunity to get Genuine via the Windows Store.”
Those who already purchased an activation code from elsewhere will be offered the opportunity to enter the code with just one-click.
According to Microsoft, if the program proves to be successful, meaning that lots of customers will get Genuine using this “one-click” method, then the experiment will be expanded to more countries.
Those who haven't yet activated their Windows 10 copy will probably notice that Microsoft released two cumulative updates today, and one of them adds this easier way to get Genuine in the Update & Security category.
