Lumia 950 and 950 XL are Microsoft's newest models in the high-end phone battle, and both are projected to ship next month, but customers who want to get them on day one can already place a pre-order via the company's online store.

Needless to say, given the fact that they're flagships, the new phones are rather expensive, but Microsoft's reportedly already working to address this with some unannounced discounts.

The first country to get cheaper Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL is the United Kingdom which, according to a report by All About Windows Phone, has Windows 10 Mobile phones that are now more affordable to customers who place their pre-order in the online store.

The price cut isn't huge, but it's still welcome, especially because Microsoft is working to boost customer appeal of both new Lumias. Here are the new prices of the two devices in the United Kingdom:

Phone model Old price New price
Lumia 950 £499.99 (695 EUR/$765) £449.99 (625 EUR/$690)
Lumia 950 XL £549.99 (765 EUR/$845) £529.99 (735 EUR/$810)

To ship next month

Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL were announced on October 6 at Microsoft's hardware event in New York and are part of the company's overhauled mobile strategy that's supposed to include fewer phone models but better aimed at customers.

Microsoft will continue to invest in just three different phone categories, namely value devices, mid-range, and flagships, with two models to be released for each every 12 months. The 950 and 950 XL are already here, so the company is expected to unveil more affordable handsets that would be part of the remaining two categories in the coming months.

In the meantime, those who want to get the high-end Lumias can already pre-order them, but shipments won't begin sooner than November, so they still have to wait a few more weeks to get their hands on the phones. Obviously, expect them to become available in more countries at various retailers by the end of the year too.
