Redmond is reportedly planning a launch early next month

Microsoft’s new high-end Lumia devices are projected to debut sometime next month, despite the fact that Redmond’s trying to keep everything secret, and now thanks to a new report, we also have a date for when this might actually happen.

Evan Blass, who owns the Twitter account @evleaks and has a good track record on leaks regarding Microsoft projects that were under development, claims in a guest post on WMPU that Redmond’s considering October 10 as a possible release date for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.

Both devices are supposed to be pioneers of Windows 10 Mobile, so this means that by this time the next month, the new smartphone operating system should be ready for prime time. Microsoft has already hinted that Windows 10 Mobile is feature complete and bug fixes and performance improvements are all it needs before launch, but it remains to be seen if this work can be finalized in less than 30 days.

Why this date makes sense

A quick look at the calendar shows that October 10 is a Saturday, which might be a little surprising given the fact that such an important release needs press coverage and Microsoft must undoubtedly do it on a week day.

But on the other hand, October 10 is 10/10/2015, which would make sense given the fact that it’s Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft seems to care a lot about such things lately. So October 10 could actually be the date when the new Lumias arrive in store and Microsoft might allow everyone to pay a visit to its store and try out the devices, in a similar way it did with Windows 10.

Obviously, this report needs to be taken with a healthy pinch of salt because Microsoft still remains tight-lipped on everything related to the debut of its new phones.
