Here is some great news for Windows Phone fans in the United States that have yet to grab the Lumia 640. It looks like MetroPCS is now offering the smartphone for just $39 outright.

The price includes a $69 instant rebate and an additional $30 in-mail in rebate after signing up, which allows customers to grab the Lumia 640 for just $39 upfront.

This is a great price considering the smartphone is available for purchase for $130 at Cricket Wireless, while T-Mobile sells it for a similar price.

Walmart on the other hand has the T-Mobile Lumia 640 for just $100 outright, but MetroPCS' deal now looks much better.

Microsoft has been flooding the US market with mid-range Windows Phone handsets lately. The Lumia 640 is already available at Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile and MetroPCS.

The Lumia 640 is now available at three US-based carriers

The smartphone will also make its debut at AT&T, while the Lumia 640 XL is expected to arrive as well. Another mid-range Windows Phone handsets, Lumia 735 is now available for purchase at Verizon Wireless.

So there are plenty of choices for Windows Phone fans in the United States, but once Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile more high-end handsets will be introduced in the country.

Until then, let's see what the MetroPCS Lumia 640 has to offer for that low price. First of all, the smartphone ships with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 right out of the box.

The device is equipped with a decent 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

It also sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Other highlights of the phone include 8-megapixel camera on the back, 1-megapixel front-facing camera, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (Near Field Communication) and 2,500 mAh battery.
