Both Android, iOS get the app, Windows version not planned

Microsoft has just released the Face Swap app for Apple users on iOS, after the company previously rolled it out for Android earlier this month.

This makes Windows the only mobile operating system that lacks Microsoft’s own Face Swap app, even though many would expect the company to support its platform first and only then those built by rivals.

Face Swap lands on iPhones and iPads with support for iOS 8.0 or later, offering a totally clean experience with no ads or in-app purchases.

As you could easily guess by simply reading the app’s name, Face Swap is an application that can automatically crop your face from either a new picture or from a photo saved in the camera roll and then paste it on a series of templates that are provided by Microsoft. You can choose from a large collection of hairstyles, fashion shots, and scenes.

Intelligent face morph tech

Of course, group photo support is also offered to swap multiple faces at once, and we’ve found this particular feature to be the most captivating during our test.

Unlike the other face swapping apps in the App Store, Microsoft’s own version uses what it calls intelligent face morph tech, so the end result would only require fine tune and nothing more.

As far as a possible Windows version of Face Swap goes, there’s nothing confirmed at this point, and there is a good chance that Microsoft will never release it for its own smartphones. The increased focus on Android and iOS is mostly the result of these two platforms growing constantly, while Windows 10 Mobile keeps losing users because of a mix of lack of apps, hardware, and developer interest.

If you want to give it a try right now, you can download Face Swap APK for Android from Softpedia and the iOS version from the App Store. Apple users can install it on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch.
