The Weather app is now clean and ad-free

Microsoft is working together with its users to improve the experience Windows 10 can provide, and following the recent builds that the company rolled out for insiders, one of the most common requests was the removal of ads in the Weather app, especially because it’s developed by the software giant itself.

Pre-installed in Windows, the Weather app received a makeover for Windows 10, but Microsoft also added a bunch of ads throughout its interface, which unsurprisingly led to plenty of criticism from those who installed preview builds.

Suggestions posted in the Windows Feedback app pretty much speak for themselves:

“Ads in the Weather app are totally unnecessary. This is the official weather app. Don’t make it look like a free game that you got off of the store. In short, get rid of ads,” one message reads.

“The new Windows Store ad inside Weather is terrible. I know how to get to the Store. I definitely don’t want to see ads inside apps,” another continues.

No more ads

Because feedback is so important for the development of Windows 10, Microsoft removed ads in the Weather app, so now you get a completely clean experience from one end to another.

There’s no doubt that Microsoft needs to keep its apps ad-free, especially because they are pre-installed in most copies of Windows 10, and users do not expect to be assaulted with such advertising messages whenever they open a specific program on the new operating system.

Right now, the Weather app looks and works just the way it is supposed to, and since we’re very close to RTM, this is pretty much the final UI it will get in the operating system. Windows 10 is projected to hit the shelves on July 29, with RTM very likely to take place this week.
