New cumulative updates available for Windows 10 users

Here we go again: it’s Patch Tuesday, so it’s that special day of the month when Microsoft releases new updates for its products, including for the already-popular Windows 10 operating system.

But in addition to the security updates that Microsoft typically ships on Patch Tuesday, the company is also releasing three new cumulative updates for Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update), and Windows 10 version 1507 (the original one that launched in July 2015).

The new cumulative updates are KB3213986, KB3210720, and KB3210721 and bring no new features, but only improvements and fixes for the Windows 10 versions they are aimed at. Since they arrive on Patch Tuesday, security fixes are also included, so users are strongly recommended to install them as soon as possible.

The chances of getting them installed correctly

As long-time Windows 10 users might know, installing cumulative updates on Windows 10 systems is quite a gamble, as many of the CUs that Microsoft released in the past caused quite a lot of issues on devices.

Many cumulative updates failed to install altogether, while others led to bugs and issues after they were installed, and in most of the cases, Microsoft never came up with a fix.

For the moment, it looks like today’s new updates install fine, or at least this is what’s happening on our computers here at Softpedia, but you should have in mind that none of the cumulative updates that Microsoft released in the past failed to install on our computers.

As usual, we’ll keep an eye out on reports to find out if these cumulative updates also fail to install, and in case you see any bug, make sure you report them in the comment box below.

In the meantime, everyone is recommended to install the updates as soon as possible, especially because they include security fixes and improvements that are supposed to contribute to the overall stability and performance of Windows 10.
