Microsoft has promoted its collaborate Whiteboard app from preview to stable release on Windows 10, announcing that iOS and Android versions are also on their way.

Additionally, Microsoft will also roll out a web version of Whiteboard that would work with all modern browsers, allowing users to connect with their Office 365 or school accounts, make drawings, notes, or work together on projects in real time.

Whiteboard can be downloaded right now on Windows 10 from the Microsoft Store, and Microsoft says that the next step is to release the iOS version of the app. No ETA is available, but the company says it shouldn’t take too long before this happens. An Android sibling is also in the works, again with no specifics on the launch date.

Whiteboard is an app that improves collaboration by offering a cloud-based solution with support for pens, mouse, keyboard, and touch input. There are several advanced features like intelligent ink to recognize shapes and easily create tables, as well as cloud support to save your projects and resume them at a later time with the entire team.

Successful preview program

The company says that the preview version of the app enjoyed a remarkable success since the release in December, and most of the improvements that have been made in the meantime are based on feedback.

“Since releasing a preview of the app in December, more than 200,000 customers have helped us fine tune the feature set and end user experience. Based on their feedback we’ve added a number of new features, including text notes, the ability to add and manipulate images, enhancements to shape and table recognition, accessibility improvements, compliance with various global standards, and more,” the company explains.

A Microsoft account is required to use Whiteboard, and work and school Office 365 accounts are also supported.
