Microsoft has released the first Windows 10 Redstone 6 build, as the company officially kicks off work on the next major feature update for its operating system.

Windows 10 build 18204 comes with the same changes as the most recent preview build for Redstone 5 (build 17723) and includes Mixed Reality improvements, like support for Flashlight.

“Today we are excited to announce that we are adding the ability to peer into your physical environment through Flashlight – without removing your headset! With the latest Windows Insider Program build, you can open a portal into your real world at any time via the Start menu, a button shortcut, or a voice command. This opens a low-latency pass-through camera feed connected to your controller. It’s comfortable, intuitive, and keeps you immersed,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, announced.

Additionally, Microsoft Edge is also getting new Group Policies and MDM settings for IT administrators, like enabling and disabling full-screen mode, saving history, and printing, while also retiring the XSS filter in the browser.

New emoji, leap second support

Unicode 11 is also officially supported starting today, and there are new emoji, like superheroes, redheads, a pirate flag, and a llama.

Microsoft is also introducing time accuracy tweaks, such as leap second support and precision time protocol, as well as a refined kiosk setup experience.

“We have introduced a simplified assigned access configuration page in Settings that allows device administrators to easily set up their PC as a kiosk or digital sign. This new page provides a wizard experience that walks you through the kiosk setup flow including creating a kiosk account that will automatically sign in on device start,” Dona Sarkar explained.

There are also several other changes, improvements, and fixes, as well as known issues, and you can check them out in full in the box after the jump.
