Microsoft has just released one highly requested feature on Windows 10 Mobile devices, making it possible for those with a phone that launched with this operating system version to shoot panoramas.

The feature was first rumored to arrive on Windows 10 Mobile devices a few months ago, and Microsoft recently confirmed that it was working on it, but it didn’t provide any other information on when exactly users could get.

Today, however, the panorama feature has gone live for Windows insiders running Windows 10 Anniversary Update on their devices. What’s important to note, however, is that this feature is part of the Camera app, which is offered as universal, so the panorama app can also be used on Surface tablets too.

Camera, the universal app

As far as phones are concerned, Lumia 950, 950 XL, 550, and 650 are the ones that are getting it as part of an update for the Camera app if the latest Windows 10 Mobile build available to insiders is installed.

“Today we are rolling out an update to the Windows Camera app that brings a highly requested feature from Windows Insiders: Panorama mode. Because the Camera app is a UWP, this capability extends to PCs and tablets in addition to phones. We have tested the new Panorama mode works with the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 550, Lumia 650, Surface Pro 4, Surface 3, and Surface Book. If you are using other devices, let us know how this works for you and any issues you hit!” Microsoft has announced today.

All users should get the new panorama feature in early August, when Microsoft introduces the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, so for the moment, the software giant is trying to test it and get feedback from insiders to address any potential bugs before a public launch.

Users are obviously encouraged to send any bugs they find to the company so that retail users would get a more stable experience when the panorama option goes live for everyone.
