The app has just been updated with Windows 10 Mobile support

Windows Phone fans who own an older Lumia smartphone probably already have the Cinemagraph application installed on their devices, but we can't say the same thing about Windows 10 Mobile users.

The moment you upgrade your older Lumia smartphone to a Windows 10 Mobile preview build, you lost the option to install Lumia Cinemagraph on your device.

That's not the case anymore since Microsoft silently released Lumia Cinemagraph for Windows 10 Mobile devices. The application is now available for Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 950 and Lumia 550 smartphones.

Sadly, Windows 10 Mobile users won't be able to take advantage of any new features as Microsoft's only improvement is support for its new version of Windows Phone.

In fact, the official changelog also mentions the update brings transparent icon support and some bug fixes, but no additional details have been provided on any of them.

So, you will be getting the same features included in the Windows Phone 8.1 version, including the same image quality that many users have been complaining about.

We expect more Lumia apps to receive support for Windows 10 Mobile

The Lumia Cinemagraph application is one of the first Lumia specific apps that receive Windows 10 Mobile support, so we're hoping that Microsoft will bring back the ones that are not yet available on Windows Store as well.

However, that may require some patience on users' part since Microsoft might have to rewrite whole apps in some cases to make them work on Windows 10 Mobile. Obviously, this is only available for Lumia apps with APIs that function on Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 only.

Anyway, if you don't have the application yet, you can now download Lumia Cinemagraph for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. The application is now compatible with devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and up.
