Surface Studio and Surface Book released in more countries

Microsoft recently announced that both the Surface Studio and the Surface Book would be launched in more markets across the world, dropping another hint that a spring release of a second-generation laptop is indeed unlikely.

The Surface Studio all-in-one PC can already be pre-ordered in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, with shipments to begin on April 20 in all these markets.

What’s surprising, however, is that the Surface Studio isn’t yet launched in Europe, though there are signs that the company is already looking at the largest markets on the Old Continent, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

On the other hand, the Surface Book arrives in Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom where customers can already preorder the device, while sales are once again projected to begin on April 20.

No Surface Book 2 just yet?

The Surface Book version that Microsoft launches in these countries is the performance base, with pricing details to be announced at a later time.

“Surface Studio has captured people’s imagination with a completely new way to create at your desk. And Surface Book with Performance Base has delivered an unprecedented combination of performance, battery life, and portability. We’ve heard from engineers, developers, Silicon Valley startups, designers, and photographers about how Surface devices not only help them get more done but to interact with their work in new ways,” Microsoft said in today’s announcement.

With the release of the original Surface Book in more markets, it becomes clearer that Microsoft is not planning to launch a second-generation laptop this spring, as some rumors have suggested recently.

On the other hand, Microsoft is still expected to hold a hardware event very soon, though it’s not exactly clear what the company plans to introduce at the show. The Surface Pro 5 is still on the table for the time being, but it could very well be pushed back until the Surface Book 2 is ready as well.
