14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has recently released another lock screen app for Android, this time promising more special features to users of Google’s mobile operating system.
Called Favorite Lock Screen, the new app was developed by Microsoft Garage, and it comes with the typical feature set that you’d expect from a lock screen Android app, including daily wallpapers, news, quick access to apps and settings, notifications, and search options.
Microsoft says that Favorite Lock Screen can deliver a more personalized experience, as you are provided with wallpapers and news that are specifically tailored to you, with support for a wide array of interests, including sports, animals, cars, actors, and musicians.
Still in its early days and mainly aimed at India, this new app obviously integrates Bing search and comes with basic gesture support, with a quick right swipe on the camera icon letting you launch the camera without unlocking the device in typical Android fashion.
Fourth lock screen app from Microsoft
Favorite Lock Screen is the fourth Android lock screen app released by Microsoft after Next Lock Screen, Tetra Lock Screen, and Picturesque Lock Screen.
“Even though the Picturesque team already had a great lock screen app available in India, we wanted to try something different,” says Pavan Kumar Desari, a Program Manager on the Favorites Lock Screen team. “We wanted to build a lock screen focused on fandom, not just beautiful images. Our app allows people to craft a more personalized experience centered around their passions and interests.”

It goes without saying that the app is still in its early days and more advanced functionality is missing, but the more feedback the company receives after users install it, the bigger the chances for this app to evolve into a mature lock screen app for Android.
