14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released tap to pay with Microsoft Wallet for users of Windows 10 Mobile devices running build 14360 or higher, thus launching a new rival for similar solutions on non-Windows platforms such as Apple Pay or Samsung Pay.
Microsoft’s new feature was created in partnership with MasterCard and Visa, the company reveals, and works only on devices that launched with Windows 10 Mobile, including here Lumia 950, 950 XL, and 650. A Windows Phone device upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile cannot be used to make payments.
Obviously, the service is only available in the United States and works with the biggest banks in the country, including Bank of America and Virginia Credit Union. More will be added soon, the company says, such as Chase and Fifth Third Bank.

Furthermore, the Redmond-based software giant has already teamed up with the largest stores, coffee shops and restaurants in the United States, so wherever you see the Microsoft Wallet logo or the Contactless Symbol you should be able to make a payment directly with your Windows 10 Mobile device.
“In our digital stores today, whether it’s Xbox, Office or the Windows Store, our customers enjoy the ease of signing in with a Microsoft account and having their secured payment information on hand to quickly and more safely purchase products,” Will White of the Microsoft Payments Team revealed today.
“Our customers have asked us to extend similar experiences to their phones and we are excited they can now enjoy easy, more secure transactions with Microsoft Wallet and tap to pay on their Windows 10 Mobile phone.”
For the moment, tap to pay is only available to members of the Windows Insider program running the latest preview builds, but it should be offered to all customers who purchased one of the models mentioned above when the Anniversary Update launches next month.
