It’s a good thing, though, as it remembers products you want to buy and is supposed to help users find a better price

Every time someone puts Microsoft and tracking in the same sentence, most people think it has something to do with spying on users, and this all happens because of the Windows 10 saga when the company was accused of collecting data from PCs running the OS.

But leaving all these privacy violation claims aside, this time Microsoft is tracking users’ browsing and apps with a good purpose in mind, as its most recent Android app can actually remember products that you want to buy and help you get a better price.

The app is called Microsoft Personal Shopping Assistant and was first launched on the desktop by Microsoft Garage as a browser extension supposed to make online shopping easier.

Personal Shopping Assistant can thus be installed on Android devices as a standalone app and according to the Microsoft description published in the Google Play Store, it can keep an eye on the products you browse inside the browser and shopping apps and get price change notifications.

Helping you find a better price

Additionally, the app stores an impressive amount of information, such as prices, pictures, reviews, and ratings, and can also provide you with a list of other places to buy products at better prices.

“Your personal shopping assistant automatically remembers all the products you shop for on the web, in your apps and in the store. Save your favorites to your boards and get automatic price change notifications. Compare products across sellers on your phone, tablet and PC. Find other places to buy, share with others and more,” the description provided by Microsoft reads.

This new app requires Android 4.1 and up and obviously is available for free, with no ads or in-app purchases. This is just the first version of the app so it’s in the early days in the Store, but more features could be implemented as new updates are released in the coming weeks and months.
