Surface Pro 4 now available without a pen

Microsoft is continuously looking into ways to make the Surface Pro 4 more affordable, and now the company has launched a new version that is $100 cheaper than the base variant.

Specifically, Surface Pro 4 coming with an Intel Core m3 processor and 128 GB storage space is now available without a Surface Pen, and this cuts $100 from its price as compared to the one that does come with a pen.

The Surface Pro 4 without a pen costs $799, while the Pen version is priced at $899 at the Microsoft Store. All the other versions of the Surface Pro 4 continue to be available, but the m3-equipped flavor is the only one currently being offered without a pen.

In case you’re wondering, the Surface Pen is obviously available as a separate accessory, and you can also purchase it from the Microsoft Store for $59.99. So yes, if you decide to buy the Surface Pro 4 m3 version without a pen in the box but purchase it separately, the final price is actually lower than that of the version that comes with the pen included in the package.

Surface Pro upgrades

While this cannot be considered a Surface Pro refresh by any means, Microsoft is actually believed to be working on hardware upgrades for its device.

The supposedly called Surface Pro 5 could launch later this year, possibly in the spring, alongside the Surface Book 2, which is the second generation of the company’s first-ever laptop.

The Surface Pro 5 would obviously come with Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors, but also with other upgrades in terms of RAM and CPU. Rumor has it that Microsoft is aiming for a spring release in order to synchronize it with the launch of the Windows 10 Creators Update, and thus use the new devices as pioneers of the latest OS updates.

Microsoft, however, remains completely tight-lipped on everything related to the next-generation Surface, but with a little luck, the new models should be here in just a few months.
