Microsoft has recently released the first stable build of its own launcher for Android, bringing a series of improvements like notification badges for a series of apps, and now the company can switch focus to the next beta version of the application.

Today, the company published the first 4.5 beta release for users enrolled in the Microsoft Launcher testing program, again with a series of new features that will be available for everyone at a later time.

First and foremost, Microsoft Launcher 4.5 beta introduces a new option to let meeting attendees know you’re running late to a scheduled appointment by simply checking the calendar card, and at the same time, employees with enterprises using Microsoft Intune data protection policies can configure the launcher to view corporate data.

For consumers and everyone else, version 4.5 introduces options to adjust icon size in the app drawer, dock, and home screen, and this should give more customization power to those who want to personalize their Android devices as much as possible.

New customization options

And because customization is considered to be one of the highlights of every Android device and launcher, Microsoft has also added options to set wallpapers for home and lock screens on Android 7.0 and newer, as well as the possibility of creating Oreo shortcuts.

And last but not least, the new beta version of Microsoft Launcher introduces options to configure recurring reminders and to add blank pages in vertical mode.

It goes without saying that this is just the first version of Microsoft Launcher 4.5 and some things might not work exactly as expected, but since it’s part of a beta program, feedback should help the company address all bugs before the final release lands.

You can give a try to the new beta by subscribing to the program or you can download the latest Microsoft Launcher APK from Softpedia right now.
