14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has recently announced a new version of its Android launcher as part of the beta program, as the company starts testing ahead of a new public launch.
Microsoft Launcher 4.7.6 beta comes with several improvements, though it’s worth mentioning from the very beginning that the download links aren’t available for everyone right now, as the release takes place in stages. Microsoft says some users can already download it from the Google Play Store and the APK should become available soon.
First and foremost, the new version comes with support for app sorting for Korean, Japanese, and Russian languages in the app drawer. Then, the beta integrates a new first-time experience for mobile-connected users from Windows setting, plus Cortana refinements.
The digital assistant is slowly becoming an essential feature of the Microsoft Launcher, and version 4.7.6 beta improves the app launch experience and offers support for more device settings like Wi-Fi and flight mode. And last but not least, Cortana now offers navigation query in the new beta build.
Microsoft Launcher 4.7.6 beta comes with several bug fixes, code cleanup, and crash fixes, so overall, the update should bring much improved experience on all Android devices.
Still a beta for now, bugs possible
Keep in mind, however, that this Microsoft Launcher version is still a beta, so certain bugs are still possible. This means the update should not be installed on production devices where performance and stability are essential.
Microsoft says this is “a minor release including a couple of user asked features and bug fixes,” and further improvements are likely in the next beta builds. As for the next stable release, it should take place by the end of the month.
