HealthVault support for Windows Phone removed

Windows Phone is going through some very difficult times these days, as both users and developers are migrating away from the platform and Microsoft keeps sending all kinds of bad signals about the future of the operating system.

The latest such signal is the removal of Windows Phone support from the HealthVault health platform that was supposed to provide users with an easy way to manage health data and fitness records.

But with HealthVault itself becoming less of a priority, Microsoft made the unexpected decision to remove Windows Phone support, so it’s now reaching to users to tell them about the change.

App compatibility issues

What’s more surprising, however, is that Microsoft is adopting the same tactic as the other developers that decided to leave the platform and it’s emailing users to inform about the Windows Phone support removal and, at the same time, recommending them to access the service in the browser.

“We’re reaching out because you are a user of the Microsoft >HealthVault app for Windows Phone. Recently, we have seen some issues with the app due to compatibility problems. We want to continue to provide a reliable HealthVault experience for Windows Phone, which we believe will be best delivered through the HealthVault website. We will therefore be ending our support for the app and removing it from the Windows Phone Store,” part of the email reads, according to MSPU.

As you can see, Microsoft blames app compatibility problems for its decision to pull Windows Phone support for HealthVault, but at the same time, this reason can give users hope that, at some point, the mobile platform could once again be supported if everything works correctly.

Furthermore, Microsoft could replace HealthVault with a new solution and the firm is very unlikely to leave Windows 10 Mobile behind, especially given all the promises that it’s supporting the ecosystem.

For the moment, the uncertainty surrounding everything Windows Phone seems to really harm the platform, so Microsoft would better come up with something really stunning as soon as possible.
