Collaboration taken to the next level with GigJam

Microsoft used the opening keynote at this year's Worldwide Partner Conference in Orlando to introduce the new Project GigJam, a business solution that's supposed to create a fully connected workplace and contribute to increased productivity for enterprises adopting it.

As weird as its name might sound, Project GigJam is supposed to summon the information from all company environments and make it possible for employees to organize projects and set up new tasks, while also offering state-of-the-art sharing features and collaboration options.

“GigJam is designed for the emerging workforce that is more connected, more available and more social than ever before. With GigJam, a business can expect a dramatic transformation of every process where humans have the potential to exercise discretion and work with others, colleagues as well as customers,” Microsoft explains.

Project GigJam takes collaboration to a completely new level, as it allows employees to work together on a number of tasks not only when they are in front of their PCs but also from their mobile phones, including Android and iOS devices.

At the same time, GigJam comes with full Cortana integration, so it can perform a number of tasks with voice commands, making it really simple for employees to collect, filter, and share data.

Microsoft says that GigJam “is not just a screen sharing app,” but one that fully embraces the concept of task work.

“The way it does it: allowing people to extract and share the very molecules of work itself, and involve others in completing them. Whether people are face to face, or available by phone, or busy at the moment, it doesn’t matter - each will get the information and tools they need, and their work will be synchronized,” Microsoft said during the day 1 keynote at WPC 2015.

GigJam is not yet available, but companies that want to take it for a spin can register on its official website for a preview version.
