Redmond releases new price cut for its flagship tablet

Microsoft has already announced a hardware event for October 6, when the company plans to demonstrate that it’s very serious about this side of the business and introduce new devices, including phones and new tablets.

As far as tablets are concerned, the successor to the Surface Pro 3 is very likely to see daylight as well, so Redmond’s trying anything that’s possible to clear up inventories in the meantime and sell as many units as possible.

So it’s no surprise that the Surface Pro 3 is heavily discounted right now, and these price cuts are very likely to continue until Microsoft runs out of tablets.

In the United Kingdom, for instance, the top two Surface Pro 3 models are available at a record discount:

Surface Pro 3 - 256 GB / Intel i7 / 8GB RAM - £1,104.15 incl. VAT (was: £1,299.00) save: £194.85 Surface Pro 3 - 512 GB / Intel i7 / 8GB RAM - £1,316.65 incl. VAT (was: £1,549.00) save: £232.35

If you’re an American or European, this means the following prices:

Surface Pro 3 - 256 GB / Intel i7 / 8GB RAM - 1,500 Euros ($1,700) Surface Pro 3 - 512 GB / Intel i7 / 8GB RAM - 1,800 Euros ($2,030)

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Word has it that Microsoft’s planning to unveil the new Surface Pro 4 at the event next month, but the company has remained completely tight-lipped on this until now.

And yet, according to people close to the matter, Redmond’s willing to launch two separate models this time, with a 12-inch or a 14-inch screen, with the latter specifically aimed at the laptop market.

Both versions will be powered by Windows 10 and will include state-of-the-art hardware, such as Intel’s new Skylake line of processors. Of course, the Pro 4 will retain the premium price of its predecessor, so expect the top model to cost somewhere around $2,000.
