A new survey conducted by Axion and Harris Poll reveals that Amazon is the technology company with the best reputation right now, with other big names like Samsung and Microsoft several places behind.

The study was conducted in two stages, as first, more than 6,000 adults in the United States were asked to name two companies with the best and worst reputations in their opinions. Then, over 18,000 participants were required to rank the 100 “most visible companies” in a wide array of sectors.

Wegmans tops the charts overall, followed by Amazon and Patagonia. Amazon dropped one spot from 2017, but stay ahead of all major tech companies.

For example, Samsung is seventh in the charts with a rating of 80.0, far behind Amazon with 82.3 points. Leading company Wegmans has a 2019 score of 83.0 points.

Microsoft is the 9th name in the rankings with 79.7 points, but up two points from the previous year. Apple is ranked 32nd with 76.4 points, while Google barely made the top 50 on the 41st place and a score of 75.4 points.

Microsoft keeps winning customers’ hearts

When it comes to technology companies alone, Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony top the charts, as the survey puts Amazon in the “Others” category for some reason.

Microsoft received most points for products and service, trajectory, vision, growth, and culture, while the lowest scores were given for citizenship.

Apple, on the other hand, got a score of just 73.3 points for character and only 70.3 points for citizenship, impressing in terms of products and service and vision. However, Apple’s scores are well below those of rival Microsoft.

Facebook recorded the biggest drop this year due to the recent privacy scandals, as it fell no less than 43 places to position 94. It receives only 54.1 points for ethics and 56.0 points for character.
