InstaNote for Windows Phone was spotted for the first time back in May, along with another new application called Dialer for Lync.

Developed by Microsoft Garage, the application has just made it to Windows Phone Store, after being in the works for quite a while.

As the name suggest, this is a note taking application that makes the process of taking notes very easy during meetings. According to developers, with InstaNote, when you hear something important, with a simple touch, the application allows users to capture the last 30 seconds of audio and transcribe it when possible.

The amount of seconds that users can set to capture audio is configurable, but the maximum you can get to seems to be 30 seconds.

“Once activated, the Windows Phone app records the entire meeting, but the touch of a button marks the portion you need and saves it.

“Features like tagging, task assignment and importing information (like speaker identifications) from the Outlook calendar makes it easy for user to recall and organize information captured,” explain developers in a long blog post.

Jie Liu, a program manager with Bing, is the person that came up with the idea implemented in InstaNote after struggling with note-taking during meetings.

“In meetings, you want the conversation to flow as naturally as possible, and usually when you want to take notes, it’s something someone just said that you need to remember later,” says Liu.

InstaNote is only one of the many projects in development at Microsoft Garage, so we expect more announcements coming from the company very soon.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download InstaNote for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1.
