New improvements rolling out to Windows 10 devices

Microsoft has started the rollout of an important feature update for the Windows 10 Mail & Calendar apps, including the eagerly-awaited Focused Inbox that was already available on Android and iOS.

What’s important to know is that the rollout takes place gradually and Microsoft says that users should start seeing the new features in the next few weeks for their Outlook.com and Office 365 accounts, with more email providers to be supported soon.

The Focused Inbox feature helps keep the inbox clean by automatically sorting emails and showing only those messages that are important to you. Microsoft says that “what lands in your Focused tab is determined by an understanding of the people you interact with often, and the content of the email itself (e.g. newsletters, machine generated email, etc.)”

Additionally, the Mail app is getting mention support, so use the @ symbol whenever you want to include a contact in the body of an email. If this contact isn’t already added in the sender list, it’s automatically added to the To: line.

The Calendar app is also getting its own share of updates, including color categories for your events, which, according to Microsoft, has been the top requested feature.

A new option called Interesting Calendars uses Bing to display your favorite TV schedules, sports teams’ matches, or anything like that. This feature is still in its early days, but Microsoft says that more regions will be added soon.

Additionally, Microsoft is improving features to keep track of travel reservations and package deliveries, and after introducing a tool that automatically adds such info from your emails to the calendar, the firm is now rolling out summary cards in the inbox and the calendar to quickly check this information at any moment.

All these features will be released to users in the coming weeks, so if they do not show up for you just yet, it’s all only a matter of time until they become available.
