14 DAY TRIAL // As weird as it might sound, there’s one very popular feature missing from Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 Mobile flagships, but available on older devices running Windows Phone and upgraded to the new operating system.
Both the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL are lacking support for Double Tap to Wake, a feature that allows you to wake the device by simply double-tapping the screen. This makes it super easy to wake the phone because you don’t have to press the physical lock button every time.
And after Microsoft confirmed earlier this year that it was working to add Double Tap to Wake on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, it turns out that this feature is now ready and shipping to users as part of a new firmware update.

There’s talk on Reddit that a new firmware version for Lumia 950 and 950 XL is bringing this feature to devices, but it appears that not everyone is getting it for the moment.
After installing the new firmware update, users can go to the Touch settings screen as it now lets them enable an option that “wakes up the phone when I double tap on the screen.” By default, this option is off, so you need to manually enable it.
Microsoft confirmed that it was working on such a feature earlier this year, but no release date was provided at that time.
“Thank you for your feedback! We are aware of this issue. We are working on adding the support for double tap to wake for devices that support this feature,” a company engineer said in the Feedback Hub after many requests and votes submitted by buyers of the new Windows 10 Mobile device.
