The Windows Store should now work okay, Microsoft says

One of the most annoying bugs discovered in Windows 10 after the July 29 launch is the one affecting the Windows Store, which blocked users not only from updating the existing apps or installing new ones but also from running the pre-installed mail client, calendar, or calculator.

All of a sudden, the Windows Store stopped working and many got hit by an error saying that “the server stumbled,” without any information on how to address this problem.

Microsoft confirmed the issue and promised to release a fix in 48 hours, but they needed no less than 7 days to provide a patch, after the problem was first reported on August 8.

According to a number of users who previously encountered the aforementioned issues, the Windows Store is now working as expected and it turns out that it was indeed a server-side issue that was repaired by Microsoft sometime today.

Some are still seeing the error message

Microsoft is yet to update its original statement on the Windows Store, so for the moment it's hard to tell whether the issue is fixed for everyone or it takes more time until the patch becomes available all over the world.

For the moment, it seems like the latter scenario is more accurate, as a number of users claim they are seeing the exact same error despite these reports of fixed Windows Store.

Microsoft has just rolled out the third cumulative update for Windows 10 and it could include some fixes for the store too, so make sure you install this one and then give the store another try.

Redmond is yet to provide us with information on this cumulative update, but since it's expected to include mostly bug fixes, the store could be one of the features that might be improved with this release.
