14 DAY TRIAL // There's a whole debate online regarding the new Windows 10 USB drives that could launch soon after the debut of the new operating system, and in order to make sure that everyone gets the right message, the company has confirmed in a statement that such sticks will indeed be made available soon.
In other words, yes, Windows 10 will also launch on USB Flash drives, so the listings we've recently seen on Amazon are indeed true.
“Windows 10 will be available on USB drives for purchase in retail channels shortly after launch. The suggested retail prices for Windows 10 in the U.S. are the same as Windows 8.1,” the company says in a mailed statement.
Now the number one question is when exactly these new USB drives will arrive to the market. Redmond says that this will happen soon after the launch of the operating system on July 29, but how soon is yet to be revealed.
Basically, if you want to purchase Windows 10 on USB drives on day 1, you won't be able to do that, so you'll have to wait a little bit longer to get your hands on the new OS on a stick. And that's a pretty big problem, because nobody knows exactly how long they'll have to wait, but expect the release to happen sometime in August.
Windows 10 USB stick pricing
As far as pricing is concerned, no, you won't have to pay extra for these USB sticks. Microsoft says that they'll cost exactly same as the DVDs, so pricing will be as follows:
Windows 10 Home - $119.99 Windows 10 Pro - $199.99
This is the pricing for the United States, but Microsoft says that Windows 10 will have the same price as Windows 8 in all the other markets, so depending on your local taxes, you might have to spend a little bit more than that on the new OS.
Just as expected, these Windows 10 USB sticks will be sold through the whole retailer network, online, and in Microsoft stores, so it won't be really hard to get your hands on one if you don't like the traditional DVD disc anymore.
