Microsoft Edge is the new default browser in Windows 10, and since Redmond released it without extension support, some eagerly anticipated features, such as an ad blocker, are missing for the time being.

Just as expected, this thing is a deal breaker for many users out there, so bringing an ad blocker in Edge is quite important for Microsoft and its customers.

Fortunately, there's an app that actually integrates an ad blocker in Edge and makes blocking ads, banners, and popups possible in the new browser with just a few clicks and minimum interaction from the user. It's called Microsoft Edge adblock from Adguard and comes with several modules that attempt to make the browsing experience cleaner for all Edge users.

Several modules for Edge

First off, there's the ad blocker module. As the company displays it, “it knows how to remove ads from Edge browser.”

“The program removes all ads on websites - banners, popups and flash animation with the help of special filters. Adguard can handle any ads, even that annoying pre-rolls and video ads on YouTube,” the parent company says.

Additionally, you're getting a browser security module that offers protection against online threats and makes Edge a safer app, as well as parental control tools to block your kids from accessing adult material.

And now comes the sad part. Adguard Web Filter, which also works on Edge, does not come with a freeware license, so if you want to start using this app, you can do it free of charge for only 30 days, as long as the trial lasts.

After that, you need to pay $19.95 for a license, but if you really want to use Edge and stay away from ads, this is pretty much your only choice for now. Obviously, it's just a matter of time until more apps doing the same thing reach the web, so you might want to wait a few more weeks before spending the money on this app.
