Microsoft has just rolled out a new Windows 10 Redstone 2 build for PCs enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, and surprisingly, the company left behind Windows 10 Mobile this week even though the last releases were synced on both platforms.

But according to Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, the Windows team decided to hold back the release of a new Windows 10 Mobile build this week because of the bugs insiders discovered in the previous builds and which are yet to be fixed.

New build coming next week

This means that there won’t be a new Windows 10 Mobile build going live this week, as the Windows team wants to get everything right and only then update devices that are part of the Insider program.

“We are continuing to investigate two issues that came up with last week’s flight of Build 14926 for Mobile. After upgrading to Build 14926, some Insiders reported that the pin pad is no longer visible to unlock their phone even after rebooting the phone and some phones lost the ability to use their SIM card. In both cases, a hard reset of resolves the issue. Based on the feedback we received from Insiders, we have decided not to release a new Mobile build this week until we get fixes for these two issues,” Dona explained.

Windows 10 build 14931 doesn’t bring any huge changes on PCs either, as this release is mostly focused on fixing bugs and improving performance. Microsoft highlighted some of the most recent app updates that are part of this release, so the focus isn’t on new features just yet.

Windows 10 Redstone 2 is due to land in the spring of 2017 for both PCs and mobile devices and will bring a long list of improvements, but Microsoft promises increased focus on smartphones that could include the debut of a possible Surface Phone.
