The new laptop is now expected in early 2017

It’s no secret that Microsoft is already working on the second-generation Surface Book and everyone predicted that its unveiling would take place in the spring 2017, but a report which came out a few days ago said that the model could see daylight as soon as the next month.

Now information posted by Digitimes claims that the alleged Surface Book 2 unveiling prepared for the next month has been delayed because of what the source calls “some design issues,” so if you were expected to get the new laptop this summer, this isn’t going to happen.

On the other hand, Digitimes claims that the plan is now to take the wraps off the Surface Book 2 in early 2017, which aligns with the previous reports that pointed to an unveiling in the next spring.

Why the spring 2017 release date makes sense

And while some expected the new Surface Book to see daylight this year at approximately 12 months after the unveiling of the first model, it actually makes more sense for the device to go live in early 2017.

Microsoft is currently working on a big Windows 10 update called Redstone and officially baptized Anniversary Update, which is reportedly divided into two different waves. The first one is due in the summer and Microsoft is now finalizing it, while the second is projected to launch in early 2017.

Microsoft wants to bring the Surface Book 2 out together with the second Redstone update, a key milestone in the development of Windows 10 when the company expects the operating system to reach its maturity. This way, the new laptop would launch with a more stable and reliable OS already benefiting from the features that the company has been working on since start of development.

Of course, take everything for granted for now because there’s no sign from Microsoft that the Surface Book was planned for a release either the next month or in early 2017.
