We're probably a few or perhaps several days away from the official launch of Windows 10 Mobile, and Microsoft has just fired up the official website for the new operating system.

The new website details some of the new features and improvements the new version of the platform brings over Windows Phone 8.

If you've been trying various Windows 10 Mobile preview builds, then most of the information listed here won't be exactly new to you.

However, it's a good place for newcomers to get familiar with Windows 10 Mobile operating system and decide whether or not it's worth investing in a new smartphone powered by Microsoft's mobile platform.

An absolute must for newcomers to Windows 10 Mobile

There's a lot of information included on the website, which, fortunately, is backed by lots of screenshots, GIFs, and videos that explain some of the features that Windows 10 Mobile brings into the mix.

Windows Hello, Cortana, Microsoft Edge, Start screen, Continuum, Windows Store, Action Center, and many other features are shown in action.

The first smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile right out of the box, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are already available for pre-order, and they ship by the end of the month in some countries.

Another budget-friendly Windows 10 smartphone, Microsoft Lumia 550, is expected to arrive in early December.

Those who don't plan to upgrade to a new Windows 10 smartphone will have to wait until next month for the new version of the OS to arrive on their Windows Phone handsets.

Many will probably start receiving the Windows 10 Mobile update only next year, but we're still waiting for Microsoft to provide us with more information on its upgrade roadmap.

Until then, check out the official Windows 10 Mobile website for the latest news on some of the most important features included.
