Lumia 950 is Microsoft’s latest flagship phone running Windows 10 Mobile, but despite the fact that buyers seem to love it, Redmond appears to be very keen on killing off the brand altogether in order to switch focus to a new model that’s expected to be the eagerly-anticipated Surface Phone.

And although the software giant isn’t saying a single word about this rumored end of the Lumia brand, the company keeps dropping hints that it’s heading in this direction, and today it announced a new discount available for AT&T locked devices.

Specifically, the Lumia 950 is available at Microsoft stores in the United States for only $299, which is the same price that you can find for this model in AT&T stores as well. On the other hand, if you want to get the model fully unlocked, you need to add an extra $100, but you also get the Display Dock adapter that lets you use Continuum.

Huge discounts for Lumia flagships

Without a doubt, all these discounts make Lumia models extremely appealing for Windows Phone fans across the world, but it’s believed that Microsoft has a different plan in mind for the brand.

At this point, the software firm might be trying to sell as many Lumia phones as possible in order to clear out inventories in anticipation of the long-rumored demise of the brand planned for December. This way, the company is trying to minimize the financial damages that its decision would cause, although it’s not yet known how many units Microsoft still has in stock.

There are Microsoft stores or retailers in the United Kingdom or Germany where Lumia 950 and 950 XL are already out of stock and local employees have no idea whether the company plans to make more units available or not. For the moment, Microsoft only seems to be keen on continuing its discount frenzy for the Lumia brand and remains tight-lipped on its future until later this year.
