14 DAY TRIAL // It's not a secret that Microsoft is working to bring new Surface models to the market, and now according to a new report, Redmond might be planning to release not only a successor to the Surface Pro 3 with a 12-inch display but also a version with a larger screen that could reach 14 inches.
Obviously, Microsoft hasn't yet confirmed this information and given the fact that the report comes from Digitimes, citing “sources from the upstream supply chain,” we should all take this with a healthy grain of salt.
And yet, the report makes sense at some level.
According to this information, Microsoft is planning to launch a successor to the Surface Pro 3 with a 12-inch screen, as well as a new model that would have a display between 13 and 14 inches. Specs aren't yet available, but Digitimes says that Microsoft will use the most powerful hardware, which most likely includes at least 8 GB of RAM and Intel's new Skylake processors.
The Surface Pro 4
As far as the release date is concerned, previous reports on this indicated that Microsoft might be planning to host a dedicated October event in New York that would witness the unveiling of several new products, including flagship Lumia phones, the second-generation Band smart wristband, as well as the new Surface Pro 4.
Microsoft is yet to confirm this info, but there's no doubt that the Surface Pro 4 is projected to arrive either later this year or in early 2016, especially because the Pro 3 has been on the market for more than 12 months and a hardware refresh is needed.
And in case you're thinking that the Surface Pro 4 might be late to the back-to-school party if it arrives in October, it's not, mostly because Microsoft isn't targeting students and teachers with this device. The Pro 4 will be, just like its predecessor, a premium device, so its price will most likely reach $2,000 for the top-of-the-range configuration.
