Redmond also delayed the monthly update for new Lumia models

Microsoft was expected to release Windows 10 Mobile in January, but according to carriers that have recently finished testing the operating system, the company pushed it back for another month, most likely because development wasn’t completed.

And now a new report claims that the software giant itself has contacted partners to inform them about the delay, revealing a little bit more about the reasons behind this decision.

VentureBeat claims that, in an email that Microsoft sent to partners this week, the company explains that the reason for holding back the release of Windows 10 Mobile for another month is the fact that the operating system isn’t yet ready. Sure, Microsoft doesn’t say it loud and clear, but the typical marketing language that the email uses certainly hides this message, the source says.

As a result, Microsoft now thinks that Windows 10 Mobile could be ready in early to mid-February, which means that we need to wait between 2 and 4 weeks to get the new smartphone OS.

No update for Lumia 950/950 XL either

What’s worse is that Windows 10 Mobile is not the only product that got delayed. The same report claims that the company is also holding back the release of the monthly servicing update for Lumia 950 and 950 XL, its new flagships running Windows 10 Mobile.

The plan now is to get both ready at the same time, so when Windows 10 Mobile finally becomes available for Windows Phone devices, Lumia 950 and 950 XL device owners should also get their monthly update. This means that everyone will be running the same version, which is quite alright, but it’s still frustrating to see so many delays one after another.

To refresh your memory, Windows 10 Mobile was originally scheduled to debut in December, but it was then delayed until January because of the additional work that needed to be done. So this is the second delay the platform is getting, and people are certainly losing their patience.
