They were initially known as Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL

It looks like the next Microsoft flagship smartphones powered by Windows 10 Mobile will be branded Lumia 950, not Lumia 940 as previously reported.

According to @evleaks, it's been confirmed that Microsoft's upcoming Cityman and Talkman high-end smartphones will be launched on the market as Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950.

This means that the Redmond-based company is willing to skip the Lumia 940 naming scheme in favor of one that might be more catchy for customers.

There's been a lot of talk on Microsoft's upcoming flagship smartphones and everything pointed to the Lumia 950, although the information wasn't really confirmed.

With a long track of accurate rumors, @evleaks recently confirmed the market name of Microsoft's Cityman and Talkman smartphones, so if Microsoft doesn't change its mind by the time the devices go official, they will be released as Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950.

That should put an end to all rumors

The information provided by @evleaks should put an end to all the rumors surrounding the Cityman and Talkman market names.

Both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are expected to be unveiled later this month and they are likely to be available on the market a few weeks afterwards.

The first to go on sale will be the Lumia 950, as the Lumia 950 XL will reportedly follow about one week after the former.

There is no new information on their pricing options or specs sheet, though we already know quite a lot about both smartphones.

The only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not Microsoft will launch its new flagship smartphones globally or they will only be available in some countries initially.

Microsoft's Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will be officially unveiled along with the Windows 10 Mobile release, which is supposed to arrive as an update on some of the current Windows Phones available on the market.
