Although rumors pointed to an early September reveal for Microsoft's upcoming Windows 10 flagships smartphones, it looks like the Redmond-based company has decided to launch the Cityman and Talkman later on.

Instead of launching these handsets at IFA 2015, Microsoft is now readying the Cityman and Talkman for a dedicated event in New York City later in September or October, WindowsCentral reports.

Microsoft believes that these high-end smartphones deserve their own special event, so it can better highlight their main specs and features. Hopefully, they will not be outshined by Apple's next iPhone which is supposed to launch this fall as well.

By postponing the reveal of Cityman and Talkman for later this fall, Microsoft gains a few more weeks to polish anything that need polishing and make any last minute changes these smartphones might require.

Some of the features included might not be enabled at launch

Also known as Microsoft Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950, the Cityman and Talkman will be released on the market later this year with a few features that might not work at launch.

One of these new features is Continuum, which will only be enabled via an additional docking station accessory that is said to be available for purchase for $100 beginning early 2016.

Both Lumia high-end smartphones are said to come packed with iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello, but this feature will only be enabled later on via a software update.

It's also worth mentioning that according to the latest hearsay, Microsoft will first launch the Lumia 950 on the market, followed by Lumia 950 XL a few weeks later.

While there's no word on pricing options yet, we don't expect these high-end Windows 10 smartphones to be more expensive than other flagship smartphones available on the market, so they will remain competitive.
